St Lucia Turtle Safari
If you are going to be traveling in South Africa, or visiting the St Lucia area, and you have an adventurous spirit, don't stop reading ....
You have just found the most adventurous wildlife tour offered in the whole of South Africa! On our turtle safari you have the opportunity to view marine animals including turtles, dolphins, whale sharks and rays, as well as terrestrial animals including lions, elephants, leopard, giraffe, rhinoceros, buffalo, zebra, and much more, while traveling across a variety of magnificent landscapes.
The St Lucia Turtle Safari is designed to include the best turtle viewing and game viewing areas in Southern Africa. Turtle safaris are also completely flexible, in that the length of the tour can be adjusted according to how much time you have available while visiting the St Lucia area.
A typical St Lucia Turtle Safari itinerary:
Day 1 - Tour into the iSimangaliso Wetlands Park to view St Lucia turtles from the shore. You will do coastal trails north of St Lucia at Mission Rocks, and visit Cape Vidal to snorkel in the calm water behind the reef. The St Lucia Wetlands Park (iSimangaliso), also has a huge variety of terrestrial animals including elephants, rhinoceros, buffalo, leopard, wildebeest, zebra, and many smaller animals. Lunch is included and consists of a barbecue just off the beach.
Day 2 - Safari to the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park to view wildlife and landscapes and enjoy the tranquility of the African outdoors. Hluhluwe is the oldest game reserve in Africa, established in 1895, and has the highest concentration of wildlife in South Africa. We spend the night in the park in Safari tents or chalets, depending upon availability at time of booking.
Day 3- The St Lucia Turtle Safari goes to the Maputaland Marine reserve which lies within the northern part of the St Lucia Wetlands Park, now called the iSimangaliso Wetlands Park. There you will be in the wilderness along an untouched section of beautiful coastline. During turtle nesting and hatching season we walk along the beach at night looking for the nesting females and later in the season, we find baby turtles emerging from the sand and heading for the water. At St Lucia, Loggerhead and Leatherback turtles nest along a 200km stretch of undisturbed beach.
It is here where we spend time snorkeling in protected bays and offshore reefs, observing marine life, including turtles, rays, tropical fish and coral. The turtles in the area have never been threatened by people, so they show little fear of humans. We keep it that way by not touching or holding onto any turtle under any circumstances.
Day 4 & 5 - Cross the border into Mozambique for 2 days in a little rural coastal village called Ponta Du Ouro. From there, we do ocean safaris to swim with dolphins, turtles, manta rays and whale sharks. After the water safaris, we spend the days on the beach and at the local markets and restaurants.
Day 6 - Return to St Lucia.

We also do transfers from Durban and the Swaziland and Mozambique Borders.
